Lagos State Police Command Apprehend 5 Men With 108 Million Naira Fake Currency

Five men were on Monday paraded by the Lagos State Police Command for printing local and foreign currencies.

Two of the suspects, Femi Jacob and Ramon Adeoye, were arrested at Ogunlana Street, Alagbado with eight printing machines and a large quantity of printed fake notes in Naira, Dollars, Pounds, Euros and Cedis totalling N8m.

Isaka Usman and Akeem Ayobado were also arrested at Ikorodu with 14 printing machines, one cutting machine and N100m fake notes. The fifth suspect, Onyeka Ibe, was allegedly an Anambra-based buyer, who usually comes to Lagos to buy fake currencies.

The state Command’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, said, “This syndicate has been in operation for over five years. Their customers are spread across several African countries like the Republic of Benin, Mali, Ghana, Togo, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

“The Officer-in-Charge of SARS, Superintendent of Police Abba Kyari, got a tip-off about the operations of the syndicate some weeks ago and mounted surveillance at Jacob’s Alagbado residence.  It was Jacob’s confessional statement after his arrest that led to the arrest of Ayodabo who is the leader of the syndicate.

“This case will eventually be handed over to operatives of Interpol because of the negative implications the fake currencies outflow might have had on the economies of the West African countries.”

The CP said the cutting machine was owned by Ayodabo and procured from the Republic of Benin

One of the suspects, Ibe said, “I often come down to Oluwole Street in Lagos Island. That is where Ayodabo has his shop. I would spend N5,000 to get currency worth N100,000. I usually buy currency worth between N500,000 and N700,000.”

The fake notes which were on display during the parade looked real enough to have kept the syndicate in business for five years with customers spread across the continent.

Adeoye told PUNCH METRO that he was arrested at Iyana Ipaja, adding, “I am just an errand boy, my duty was to deliver fake currencies to buyers. I was on my way to deliver fake notes worth N700,000 to one Ibrahim when I was arrested.”

Earlier this morning, Rick Ross crashed his Rolls Royce in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after someone fired shots at his vehicle, prompting him to drive his car into a building.

His longtime foe 50 Cent took to Twitter shortly after news broke, posting a picture of the vehicle being towed and noting that it did not have bullet holes.

"Hahaha fat boy hit the building?lol it looks staged to me. No hole's in da car," wrote 50 Cent.

Though the longtime beef between Ross and 50 has simmered over the past year, tensions mounted at the BET Hip-Hop Awards last September after members of the G-Unit clique got into a brawl with Maybach Music Group's Gunplay. Ironically, the ceremony was the same location where 50 Cent publicly mended fences with Fat Joe.

In a recent chat with NET's Victor Enengedi, Majek Faskek expressed his approval for the kind of music played by 2face and Wizkid. Hear him: "I like Wizkid and 2face, they play good music".

But he knocked D’banj for his alleged ‘affiliation’ with Illuminati.

Hear him: "I don’t like that other boy called D’banj, those ones that went to join Illuminati. How can you go and sell your soul to the devil because you want to be famous. I don’t even like his music anyway".

I however find it interesting that in the same breath he used to castigate D'banj for 'joining Illuminati', the 'send down the rain' crooner also reveals that his son was signed by Illuminati Lil Wayne. 

Hear him: "The eldest is in college now and he is a rapper. He has just been signed by the American rapper, Lil Wayne. You know you can’t compare American rap with Nigerian rap. Nigerians can rap but they don’t have the swagger of the Americans". Sure!!! You wish!!!

Lest I forget, he also denied ever using cocaine (yeah right) and gave a 'revelation' about visiting Fela in Heaven, where the latter informed him that 'government' are trying to assassinate Femi. Oh yeah? Lol!

It took me a while to find my way to the Sewage Road, Gowon Estate residence of Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek.

As I knocked on the gate, a young man named Ogaga came to attend to me. I introduced myself as a Journalist from Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) and explained my mission. He tried to dissuade me from seeing the rainmaker, insisting that I needed to speak with the management before I could chat with him.

But Majek heard our dialogue, rushed to the gate and insisted that I come in. The nineties hit-maker was dressed in a denim shirt and jeans. It was 10am in the morning of Friday January 25. Majek  was already reeking of alchohol.

Since Ogaga had warned me against having an interview with the veteran reggae artiste, I left  the premises and waited not too far from the house, hoping to catch Majek coming out of the apartment.

I was determined to speak with the man who many say has become mentally imbalanced, about to roam the streets.

And it was my lucky day, as 25 minutes later, Majek wandered out of the house. I approached him and he readily suggested a place we could go and drink talk.

For a man who was admired all over the world, and tipped to be the next big thing after Bob marley, Majek has become a shadow of himself.

After agreeing to buy him a bottle of Big Stout, while also giving him N500 (he asked for N4,000), we get to sit down for a quick, albeit  revealing chat…

Your album was scheduled to be released sometime this month, is that still possible?

The album is ready. It will be released next month. It is titled ‘I Am Not Afraid.’

Who are the artistes that you featured on the album?

I featured Blackface and Tuface.

Reports have it that you are having problems with your label?

Yes, we are having problems. Haija (his manager) wants to cheat me. We had an agreement that she would get me accommodation, a car and other things. I’m in this house now and there’s no light (electricity). I have been here suffering. They also monitor my movement as if I am a child. The Mercedes Benz they gave me is lying out there broken.

They say they need four hundred thousand naira (N400,000) to repair the vehicle. Here I am, I have nothing. Little Wizkid has a jeep while I have nothing. I have a green card, I can always go back to America, but God said I should not go yet. I allow Hajia to do as she pleases because she is a woman and she is like a daughter to me.

Do you have children or family you could have been staying with?

I have four boys, and they are all in America with their mother, an Igbo woman. I can’t ask my children to come to Nigeria because if they experience NEPA, they won’t like me again. The eldest is in college now and he is a rapper. He has just been signed by the American rapper, Lil Wayne. You know you can’t compare American rap with Nigerian rap. Nigerians can rap but they don’t have the swagger of the Americans.

So which young Nigerian artistes that you like?

You know these days they use a drum machine. There are hardly any real musicians amongst them. I like Wizkid and 2face. They play good music. I don’t like that other boy they call D’banj; those ones that went to join Illuminati. How can you go and sell your soul to the devil because you want to be famous? I don’t even like his music anyway.

Have you read stories saying you’re going mad?

I didn’t read it, I was told by my boys in this beer parlour. Look at me, am I mad? I’m a strong man. I may look old and rough right now, but I know what I’m saying and what I’m doing. Many people think that Majek has gone and that Majek is no more, but I’m still here and I’m probably going to live longer than a lot of you.

Your label also reported you missing. Where were you the whole time?

I was in heaven. I went to see Fela Anikulapo Kuti in heaven. I was in heaven the whole time they were looking for me. Fela was not happy with me. He told me that some people want to kill Femi (Kuti). He said that Femi is his heir and that there are some elements that are trying to assassinate him. He told me that he will hold me responsible if anything should happen to Femi. He even gave me this ring I’m wearing.

Did he say who was trying to kill Femi?

He said the government.

Did he mention a specific name?

He just said the government.

Do you still use cocaine?

I have never ever used cocaine. I don’t do drugs. It is just me, my beer and my ogogoro (local gin).

Are you saying you didn’t do drugs in America?

I never did drugs. It was just a conspiracy to get me off my music because I was speaking and singing the truth.

Conspiracy by whom?

By the powers that be. Powers in high places.

You sound like a very spiritual person…

I am a very spiritual man. I am a ‘juju’ on my own. Sometimes I can go into a trance and relate with spirits in the spirit world. The ‘Cele’ tried to stop me, they couldn’t. The ‘aladura’ also tried but they couldn’t tame me. As I am, no spirit can do anything [to me].

Do you miss the glory days when you were one of the biggest artistes in Africa?

I’m still in my glory days. I’m still a legend. I still play my music every Friday night in this joint. In America we have what we call royalties, money paid the artiste for each time his music or video is played. I still get my royalties. I still have my guitar and I play it all the time.

Happy family: Sir Elton John and David Furnish proudly show off their second baby son, Elijah Joseph, who was welcomed into the world on January 11, 2013.

Tenderly cradling his new baby in his arms, Sir Elton John proudly shows off his family of four. Beside him sits husband David Furnish, and their two-year-old toddler Zachary.

The couple’s second son Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John (to give him his full title) was born on Friday 11 January weighing 8lb 4oz.

Like his elder brother, little Elijah was born to the same California-based surrogate mother - whom the couple said they love ‘like a sister’.

They revealed that the boys are at least half-brothers as they share the same egg donor. But it is not clear if that is the same woman who carried them for nine months, or someone else.

Another unknown fact is which man is the baby’s biological father - if, indeed, either of them.

Neither Sir Elton, 65, or his civil partner Mr Furnish, 50, have revealed whether Zachary or Elijah carry their genes.

However on Zachary’s official birth certificate, Sir Elton is named as ‘father’ and Mr Furnish as ‘mother’ leading to speculation that the rock star is his biological father. They have also kept the identity of the boys’ surrogate mother a closely guarded secret.

Speaking to Hello magazine, Sir Elton said: ‘She is a wonderful, kind and loving woman, who we love like a sister. We have a very close bond with her and were in constant touch throughout the pregnancy, getting updates, seeing scans and sharing all the little details that make those nine months so exciting'.

Thrilled: The delighted pair said that the arrival of their second son, who was born in Las Vegas via a surrogate, 'completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.'

‘She has given us two amazing gifts and we in turn have a duty of care to her and are fiercely protective of her anonymity.’ 

Unlike elsewhere in the world, it is not illegal in California for a multi-millionaire such as Sir Elton to pay a significant sum of money to a surrogate or gestational carrier.

If she were paid, a surrogate mother could in theory have become very rich after successfully delivering first Zachary and then Elijah.

It is likely she would have signed a strict confidentiality agreement never to speak about the deal.

The couple said the arrival of their second son, who was born in Las Vegas, ‘completes our family in a most precious and perfect way’.

Sir Elton admitted that such was the intensity of love he feels for their firstborn, who was born on Christmas Day 2010, he was worried if he would ever be able to love another child as much.

‘But I have learned that a parent’s capacity for love is endless’ he said.

‘When another child is born, our depth of love just grows deeper and wider, so it was very emotional.’

Filmmaker Mr Furnish said: ‘Throughout our lives we have both loved and been loved, but the love of a parent for his or her child is different to anything else, as all parents will know. You find new depths of love, and experience pure joy.

‘Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable.

‘The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.’ 

Sir Elton, who has sold more than 250million records in a four-decade music career, has previously regretted waiting so long for a child.

They had previously been turned down for adoption due to his age.

‘It changes everybody. It’s the most wonderful thing you could possibly go through,’ he said.

‘I regret a little bit that I didn’t do it sooner, but he [Zachary] has changed our lives. Everything is about him now.

‘He’s gorgeous, he travels brilliantly, he so loves people, and it makes our lives - he’s the icing on the cake.’ 

Their new son will want for nothing - if the example of his elder brother is anything to go by.

Zachary’s godmothers are Lady Gaga, magazine editor Ingrid Sischy, and Sichy’s partner Sandy Brant, while the couple spent thousands on his nursery and FedExing breast milk from his surrogate mother around the world.

Ellen Kardashian Strikes again! She is defending the release of her late husband's diary entries.

The battle between Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Ellen Kardashian continues as Robert Kardashian's widow won't back down from her accusations.

After giving In Touch Weekly a copy of Robert's former diaries, the magazine reported that they painted Kris Jenner as a violent and negligent mother.

After Kim, Khloe and Kris denied the claims publicly saying that Ellen was doing it for money, Ellen is coming back again and calling the girls liars.

She told In Touch:

"I have nothing to hide. I have not belittled them or chastised them or said shameful things about them. If this was about money, I would have done this nine years ago, because I'm not the one who was left on the insurance policy."

Refusing to back down, Ellen continues:

"I have a career, I am a successful business professional who has worked hard in my profession for 25 years. My God,  I’ve worked since I was 18 years old.”

Ellen acknowledges that she filed for bankruptcy two years ago and never denies being paid for this story.

But she also shows no remorse:

“I am simply stating the facts and the truth -  their father’s truth. I simply delivered hand-written diaries from their father. They are my property at the disposal of whatever I so choose. Robert would have no problem with that.”

Miley Cyrus Goes Braless On March's Cover Issue Of Cosmopolitan. Also Returning To Studio After Slamming Justin Bieber's 'Disrespectful' Fake Fan-Cutting Trend - Song Features Mary J. Blige And Tyler The Creator.

Miley Cyrus stuns on the cover of Cosmopolitan's March issue, sporting a white blazer with nothing underneath. 

The 20-year-old former Hannah Montana star dished on her fiancé (or "hubby" as she called him in the mag) along with her upcoming record, telling Cosmo which part of her life is the most satisfying. 

"Number one is my relationship with Liam," Cyrus said. "That's what I feel the most confident in because you never know. There's so much hype behind my new record, but it could come out and, worst-case scenario, everyone f*cking hates it."

And speaking of the Hunger Games Star, Cyrus said she too still gets awestruck by how "hot" her hubby-to-be is.

"I'll literally look at him and be like ‘You are hot, dear god!'," the "Can't Be Tamed" singer continued. "The other day, I turned on the pool heater and it was steaming, and he walked outside and took off his clothes and jumped in the pool. I was like, ‘I'm gonna faint—the hottest guy of my life is in a steaming pool. This looks like a Playgirl shoot.'"

"So, I took a photo and made it the background on my phone," Cyrus went on. "My best friend grabbed my phone and was like, "Who's that? He is so hot!" ‘That's my hubby!'"

And her record, Cyrus said, is the second most satisfying thing for her.

"I've never gotten to make a record like this because Disney's always been on my back saying, 'You've got to promote the TV show in two months, so make sure your record's done...and when you promote your record, can you promote the show, the movie and theHannah Montana record?' I was basically carrying two people's careers and trying to make mine the priority. Now, it's almost like being a new artist and trying to make a first impression. I think the best thing I could have done was take those two years off to really live, because now people don't think of me as who I was on the TV show."

The starlet's new record will come with a new sound, she said, which she collaborated on with the likes of Mary J. Blige and Tyler the Creator.

"I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler the Creator heard it and said, ‘I am obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album.' And he killed it! I really didn't want to make a hip-hop record, and I'm not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki Minaj...that's not my vibe. When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had me listening to Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that." 

Cyrus' debut album is set to be released later this year.

Justin Bieber Is In Hot Water Again! This Time, He Is Being Investigated For Assault With A Nerf Gun! *are you kidding me?*

Justin Bieber is in hot water again. The teen heartthrob is under investigation for assault - though not exactly with a deadly weapon. The object in question? A Nerf toy gun.

According to TMZ, a female employee of an Ottawa, Canada venue where Bieber was performing last November filed a police report that claimed she was hit by something and that Bieber or someone in his entourage assaulted her.

Sources close to the investigation tell TMZ that Bieber was messing around with a Nerf gun with his younger brother and sister, and one of the foam darts accidentally struck the employee.

The woman is reportedly a security guard at the venue.
