Controversy trails the killing of 73-year-old monarch; family say robbers, Police say ‘assassination’.

THERE was palpable disquiet bordering on panic on Thursday, following the killing of Chief Kayode Adeshina Onimole, the Onimole of Lagos and a member of the ‘white cap chiefs’ of Lagos.

Questions begging for answers are on the lips of residents of the Igan Iduganran, the traditional palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

While some family members said the late Onimole died at the hands of armed robbers , the Lagos State Police Command  sees the killing of the traditional ruler  as an assassination since nothing was stolen from him.

Sympathisers in Isale-Eko area have been wondering how the hoodlums walked into the ever-busy palace of the late Onimole unnoticed.

The Guardian gathered that the assailants walked into the bedroom of the 73-year-old traditional ruler and shot him without stealing a pin. But his family members said they did not suspect any foul play.

Sympathizers thronged the palace of the late chief, which is a few buildings from Oba Akiolu’s palace.

According to one of the leaders of the Onimole family, Major General Segun Ajiborise :“Our family has lost a rare gem.” The killing of our brother is a very pathetic experience. Early this morning, we woke up to hear the news that our brother, Chief Kayode Adeshina Onimole, the Onimole of Lagos and the Opemulero of Yoruba land was robbed and killed.

“We quickly got the police involved. The police have come and they have embarked on homicide investigation into the matter.

“ I can only tell you that our family would miss Onimole.

“Even the people of  Isale-Eko  would miss him. We have been receiving calls from all parts of Nigeria and America.   People have been calling to give words of consolation to our family members. Our father was about 73 years old before he was killed. There is nothing we can do.  We just give glory to God. He had a credible character. Baba Oloye could not hurt a fly. He had no enemy as everyone was his friend. If you speak to people on this Iga Iduganran area, you would be amazed about the good things they would say about Baba. The assailants came into his palace and killed him,” The retired military officer said.

He added that police investigation would unearth whether it was assassination or armed robbery.

According to him, “ We don’t know whether there is foul play anywhere. We have left that one for police to establish. He was a traditional ruler but he had only one wife and six children".

One of the residents, who preferred to remain anonymous, said: “I am still in shock. I watched the football match between Nigeria and Mali with Baba here at his palace. We were all rejoicing over the winning of our team. So, I was shocked when I heard that he had been killed this morning. I have not recovered from the shock,” he said.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Umar Manko  told The Guardian on telephone that the assailants were not robbers. He, however, assured that the police had swung into action to unearth the mystery behind the death of the traditional ruler.

According to him, “Two men walked into the man’s bedroom around 3. 00a.m. and shot him. They did not steal anything so they were not armed robbers. We have commenced investigation into the matter already.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba is leading the investigation team and they have already swung into action.”

Selena Gomez found herself the target of a protest on Wednesday while attending a New York Fashion Week show.

The starlet was there on behalf of the Adidas NEO label, as she was recently named the brand's style ambassador.

But clearly, some folks aren't all that happy about it.

Are Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber back together?

Outside the venue, protesters from the United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) group held up a banner that read, "Selena: Don't be an Ambassador for Sweatshops."

Later in the evening, Gomez tweeted about the event, but opted not to acknowledge the protest.

She simply wrote, "Amazing show for @adidasNEOLabel tonight!! They looked amazing."

When E! News reached out, Gomez's rep declined to comment.

French Kiss Between Mother And Jailed Son In Which Drugs Were Exchanged When She Visited Him In Prison, Also Lands Her Behind Bars With Him! *puking*

A French kiss between a mom and her jailed son - in which drugs were exchanged - landed her behind bars with him, according to New York State police.

Kimberly Margeson, 54, is alleged to have given William Partridge, 30, two Oxycodone painkiller pills when they locked lips during a visit on Tuesday.

It is not known whether mother and son used tongues to facilitate the drug kiss exchange, police say. No word if they plan to launch a probe into that.

A Yates County Sheriff's Department report said Margeson put the pills into her own mouth before visiting the jail. Cue the gross mom-son drug kiss.

"She then passed two pills from her mouth to her son's mouth," the report said.

The drugs transferred via first base were reportedly an opioid narcotic pain reliever similar to morphine, and were for William Partridge's own use.

Margeson, from Penn Yan, N.Y., was arrested and charged with a felony drug count and a misdemeanor count of promoting prison contraband.

She pleaded not guilty and was released on a $2,000 bail.

Partridge, who remains behind bars for an alleged previous weapons offense, was charged promoting prison contraband, a misdemeanor.

Both mother and son were charged with stooping to a new low.

The handwritten song list only contains 10 tracks, so for those hoping Timberlake would be bringing longer albums back, you might be disappointed. Russell Simmons says it's all nonsense.

He says there's no such thing as the Illuminati, a group that supposedly runs the world and counts among its members Oprah, Kanye, Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Asked if he could confirm or deny the alleged members, or even acknowledge the group's existence, he said "Are you kidding me?" and that it's all a myth.

Justin Bieber And Rihanna Had An Affair? Insider Also Claims That, "Selena is repulsed by Miley!"

Rumors are swirling that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez may be reconciling once again, but the question of why they broke up in the first place has never been answered -- until now.

Life & Style would like you to believe that Gomez, 20, called off her two year relationship with the 18-year-old pop star after she found out Bieber had cheated on her with Rihanna during the early stages of their relationship.

We'll let you pause for a moment to catch your breath from laughing so hard, but a friend of Gomez's told the magazine that news of the alleged affair has "devastated her."

"It really cut like a knife because it happened in February of 2011, when Selena and Justin had been dating for months and were falling in love. It’s caused Selena to question their entire relationship," the source told Life & Style.

According to the friend, Bieber and Rihanna hooked up after an evening of flirting at the NBA All-Stars game in February 2011. While it's true that Bieber and Rihanna were spotted sitting next to each other, allegations that the two hooked up seem more than dubious. Given the timeline, Bieber would have been a week shy of his 17th birthday, while Rihanna would have been 22. Plus, (for whatever reason) Bieber is good friends with Chris Brown, and we doubt their friendship would have survived if the Biebs hooked up with Brown's ex-girlfriend.

A rep for Bieber denies that the pop star's relationship with Rihanna has ever been anything more than friendly, but the magazine's source claims that "Justin would never admit to it; He would never tell anyone he messed around with Rihanna.”

Forgive us for having a hard time believing this ever happened, but this latest rumor does seem to be part of a pattern -- a pattern that involves Bieber hooking up with half of young Hollywood.

In November, it was reported that Gomez broke things off because she has "trust issues" with Bieber and their hectic schedules weren't helping things either. The couple has been known to break up and make up quickly, and RadarOnline reported that one of their splits was over Miley Cyrus.

A source claimed that when Bieber shot the MTV show "Punk'd" with Cyrus in 2012, Gomez was not pleased.

"Selena is repulsed by Miley!" claims the insider, who added that when Gomez brought up her concerns to Bieber, he paid no attention to her and did the show anyway. "He's been continually choosing work over Selena and she's finally had enough."

Bieber also reportedly wouldn't stop texting other girls, including Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin, whom he is rumored to have dated right after he split with Selena.

Dog With A Human Face Named Tonik, Up For Adoption! Ever Wanted To Own A Dog That Looks Like Tommy Lee Jones In Lincoln? Well, Don't Miss This Opportunity! ;) (Photo + Video)

It's just one of those things that are like, "Whoa, dude."

Gawker pointed out that Tonik, a poodle-Shih Tzu mix available for adoption from an Indiana animal welfare agency, actually has an "eerily humanoid" face.

Petfinder notes that the dog came to the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group from a kill shelter in Kentucky. The personable photos were taken by Renny Mills, a professional pet photographer.

In an email to The Huffington Post, Jen Schwartz, the owner of Homeward Bound, said the shelter had recently taken in dogs that required dental work and had illnesses that required expensive treatments.

It's totally horrible that any animals -- whether they have human faces or not -- have to die because nobody wants them. Here's hoping that Tonik finds an awesome home.

The theatrical rights to the documentary, Free Angela and All Political Prisoners, have been acquired by Codeblack Films. The film about Angela Davis premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2012 to rave reviews. Coming along for the ride as executive producers for Free Angela are Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

Written and directed by Shola Lynch, Free Angela tells the journey of how the young college professor, who was member of the Communist Party and an associate of the Black Panther Party, landed on the FBI’s ten most wanted list and became one of America’s most renowned revolutionaries. The film, which will be presented by BET Networks , will be released exclusively in select AMC theatres in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Oakland, Philadelphia and Atlanta on April 5, 2013.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was none too pleased when Beyonce took to the stage during the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday dressed in a black leather costume made from animal hide. After chastising the singer's choice, the animal rights organization has revealed that there is a way she can make amends.

On Tuesday, PETA slammed Beyonce for her Super Bowl costume choice -- a black leather ensemble designed by Rubin Singer and constructed with strips of iguana, python and cowleg cowhide. PETA released a statement to HuffPost Style saying that the "Love On Top" singer "missed the mark" with her non-vegan outfit.

In an email correspondence with HuffPost Green on Wednesday, PETA Media Officer Wendy Wegner said, "Beyonce is immensely talented and beautiful, but sometimes she forgets that her actions can upset or influence her countless fans; and that, with the choice of one outfit, she has the opportunity to help animals and set a good example."

There is still time for Beyonce to change her ways, says Wegner.

The multiple Grammy Award-winner, who is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the biz today, can start emulating other Hollywood starlets who make animal-friendly choices, per PETA's suggestions.

"Everyone -- including Beyonce -- can make the decision today to stop wearing fur, leather, and exotic skins and instead choose the cruelty-free and 'green' fashion favored by compassionate, chic celebrities such as Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway and designers such as award-winning fashion queen Stella McCartney," says Wegner.

Beyonce can even do good with her fur and leather possessions, Wegner went on to remark. "People who learn how animals are beaten, electrocuted, and even skinned alive often donate their bags, coats, and even shoes to PETA, and we give them to the homeless, display them in demonstrations, and use them as bedding for orphaned wildlife," she says.

Former fur-wearers Mariah Carey, Cornelia Guest and Debbie Harry are just some big names who donated their fur coats to PETA.

"Beyonce's clothing line features faux-fur items that we hope she'll choose to feature more in her everyday looks," says Wegner, referring to the House of Dereon collection, "and we still have hope that she'll go exclusively animal-free. It is true that celebrities are sometimes dressed by others for events and don't always make conscious choices about the outfits that they wear."

PETA also recently criticized Beyonce for the Christian Dior fur coat she wore to President Barack Obama's second inauguration ceremony in January, according to the Guardian. The group noted at the time how First Lady Michelle Obama does not wear fur.

Every year, more than 1 billion animals are slaughtered for their skin, according to a PETA.org statistic. Although most leather in the U.S. is a byproduct of cattle, other animals killed for their hide include horses, pigs, zebras, kangaroos, dolphins, seals, crocodiles, lizards and snakes.

PETA suggests many alternatives to leather, such as cotton, rubber, linen and synthetics.

Demi Lovato gets very personal in the latest issue of Cosmo on Campus.

Speaking to the British publication, the actress/singer touches on her long-time eating disorder, the perception of her body and the mistakes she believes many young women make when it comes to the opposite sex.

"I was about 12 or 13 when I developed my eating disorder, and at that time nobody in the public eye talked about their body issues," says the 20-year old, whose problems went far beyond a focus on healthy recipes.

"I feel that if someone had admitted they had a problem, then I wouldn't have gone down that route myself," she said. "That's my goal in talking about my problems: I want to be the person for other girls that I needed to admire when I was looking for help and strength."

Among other topics touched on by Lovato, who has recently credited friends such as Taylor Swift for helping her get by:

Body Image: "It's OK to love your body the way it is and it's OK to reach out for help if you have drug and alcohol problems, or if you're self-harming or being bullied."

Focusing on What's Important: "It is very unhealthy when girls devote all of their time to a guy and forget their friends and family. I did that. I was always looking for distractions because I was so afraid of being alone."

Where She is Now: "I can finally trust and love and be a better person for the man I am in a relationship with, instead of being a clingy girlfriend or getting jealous."

Sonam Kapoor Shoots First Film For Yash Raj Films (YRF) With Ayushmann Khurrana Playing Her Love Interest

The sexy and ever gorgeous Sonam Kapoor wrapped up shooting for Ranjhana, last week and is headed on to the sets of Yash Raj Films (YRF), an Indian entertainment company established by Yash Chopra, an Indian film director and producer who was considered an entertainment mogul in India. Both the films are being shot in Delhi. Says Sonam Kapoor, “I have been shooting in Delhi for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Ranjhana and now I am back here for YRF’s next. Delhi has practically become my second home”

This will be the stylish actress’ first film with the company. The audience love the onscreen pairing of Ayushmann and Sonam and the movie is already awaited. They will start shooting on 5th February 2013.

British Racist Woman Verbally Abuses Nigerian Student In A UK Hospital (See Video)

A shocking video emerged yesterday of a woman going on a rant to patients in a hospital waiting room.

The two-minute clip, filmed on Saturday night at Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk, saw the woman shout abuse at students Gina Thompson, 23, of Nigeria, and her 21-year-old Spanish friend.

The woman asked them ‘where do you come from’ before saying: ‘You're coming over here and you're pleading poverty. We are paying taxes you a***holes and we are going down in this crisis.’
