Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams, and Robbie Jones have been added to Tyler Perry‘s latest film, ‘The Marriage Counselor,’ joining Jurnee Smollett and Kim Kardashian.
“Headed to Hotlanta to meet mogul Tyler Perry for the 1st time & get fitted for a role in his new film. I’m sure fashion will be fab!,” stated Williams on her Twitter account.
Based on his stage play, the film tells the story of Judith, an Ivy League-educated relationship expert who makes her living dispensing marital advice, but is so bored with her own marriage that she breaks her professional code and cheats with a smooth talking client only to realize she has made a huge mistake.
Jurnee Smollett plays the marriage counselor and Kardashian will play Ava, a co-worker who gives Judith a big city makeover and new confidence as she struggles with her personal issues.
Gross will play the role of Brice, Judith’s husband, while Williams plays her mom.
Gross, who’s best known for his role as Calvin Payne in the TBS sitcom ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,’ was last seen on the big screen opposite Forest Whitaker in the romantic comedy ‘Our Family Wedding,’ His next film will be in Matthew A. Cherry‘s film, ‘The Last Fall,’ co-starring Nicole Beharie, Keith David, and Harry Lennix. The California native can also be seen in the web series ‘Milk + Honey,’ which is produced by Idris Elba.
Williams currently stars as Renee Perry in ABC’s ‘Desperate Housewives,’ and was last seen opposite Miley Cyrus in ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie.’ Her other film credits include ‘Johnson Family Vacation,’ the remake of ‘Shaft,’ and ‘Soul Food.’
Jones was recently in the TV series ‘Hellcats,’ and was also in ‘One Tree Hill.’ The California native’s film credits include ‘Hurricane Season,’ opposite Forest Whitaker.
Perry and partners Ozzie Areu and Paul Hall are producing ‘The Marriage Counselor,’ which just started shooting in Atlanta, Georgia this week.
