Nicki Minaj covers Complex Magazine’s 10th Anniversary Issue (April/May 2012) – on newsstands April 3. Excerpt:
On exceeding her own expectations and setting new goals: “Doing the Super Bowl with Madonna doesn’t really change Nicki Minaj’s personal goals. My goal right now is still to put out Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, sell five million copies eventually, and tour every country in the world. That’s what I’ve been working toward. So while the world is talking about, “Oh my God, I can’t believe Nicki Minaj was at the Super Bowl!” I’m mixing and mastering my music. In my scheme of things it’s way bigger.”
On her off-stage persona: “I’m the biggest homebody. But I’ve been like this. Nothing about me has changed since I got fame. I never liked to go to clubs. I never liked to go out. I don’t know where that public craziness came from. I was always like a comedian to my friends and family, but in a lot of ways I’m shy. I think people read my shyness as being mean. They misinterpret it. The first and only person who ever called me out for being shy was Wayne.”
On where she’ll be in 2022: “In 2022, I’ll definitely be married and I’ll definitely have my two children…OK, I might have three, but I do want at least one boy….No, no, no. I don’t think I even need a girl. I need a boy though.”
Rihanna Covers Women’s Fitness
Rihanna features on the coversof the May 2012 issue of UK’s Women’s Fitness magazine.
On finding unconventional ways of dealing with her body issues: “My way probably won’t work for most people… but the more I got naked the more comfortable I felt. I just had to face my fear. You always find something wrong, you always find something you’re uncomfortable with, and one thing turns into another and you get embarrassed and self-conscious about it – you feel like everybody can see what you see.”
On dealing with criticism: “I stand up for what I believe in and a lot of the time that can be against people’s opinion, but that’s the hard thing to do, it really is sometimes. Especially if the majority doesn’t agree.”
On crediting her mom for the rock-solid core of self-belief: “My mom is the toughest person I know. I’m finding myself becoming a lot more like her. Every time I come to a crossroads, I always find myself going back to my mom’s methods.”
Rihanna also talked about getting in shape for her upcoming movie “Battleship.” Which hits theaters May 18.

Banky W, Wizkid, Bon'Eye & L-Tido Feature in "Suga" Music Video .
The long awaited music video of "Shuga" by Banky W, which also features Wizkid, Bon’Eye and L-Tido, was released by MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation on Friday, March 16. (The audio track was released in February 2012)
The video for the hit single, was simultaneously unveiled at a VIP screening of "Shuga: Love, Sex, Money" at Silverbird Galleria in Lagos and on MTV Base's Spanking New programme.
The music video, which was directed by Clarence Peters and shot on some locations in Kenya, also features footage from "Shuga", a 6-part sex-and-relationships TV series, narrated through the lives of realistic characters and emotional situations drawn from real life.
The four artistes came together after MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation commissioned them to create the track to promote the TV series.
